Weiden - A location with a future in the center of Europe
Weiden has developed from a secluded town bordering on the former CSSR to a cosmopolitan community in the heart of Europe.
Even though the world famous glass and porcelain businesses would make us believe otherwise, Weiden has never been a typical industrial town. Last year, only one third of a total of 30,000 employees worked in industry whereas two thirds worked in services.
It goes without saying that in the course of the last two decades commerce and industry have changed significantly. The monostructure of glass and porcelain was cut back and supplemented by various businesses dealing in the construction of vehicles, plastics processing, or microelectronics. As a result, Weiden has changed to a modern town with excellent prospects for the future.
