In 1900 and 1901, the church, which was the largest edifice since the Middle Ages in the diocese Regensburg - the Catholic parish church St. Joseph - was built in only 18 months.
The Jugendstil interior was sketched out by Franz Hofstötter from Munich and carried out by the academic painter and sculptor Wilhelm Vierling from Weiden.
Johann Baptist Schott from Munich was the architect of the Neoromanesque building.
The church is probably one of the most beautiful Jugendstil ecclesiastical buildings. |
