The Old Town Hall was build between 1539 and 1545 by architect Hans Nopl, master carpenter Hans Stieber, and stonemason Andreas Falk. It was renovated from 1914 to 1917. The chimes, which can be heard daily at 11.35am and 4.35 pm, were donated to the town in 1983. On the Town Hall’s first floor, shops were opened in 1981, as they were already in the Middle Ages. With regard to interior design, the conference hall’s beamed roof is a masterpiece of 16th century craftsmanship. The Old Town Hall used to be not only an administration building but also the center of public life with numerous theater plays and dance events taking place. Today, this historical site serves as the place where a town council meeting is held once a year as well as a place where wedding ceremonies and special receptions are administered
